"The truths of philosophy are not restricted only to the sometimes ephemeral teachings of professional philosophers. All men and women, as I have noted, are in some sense philosophers and have their own philosophical conceptions with which they direct their lives."
Philosophy therefore is valuable to students of all majors. Unfortunately, because A&M is not really known as a liberally thinking school, the philosophy department is often overlooked and underused. Thus, the club is here to serve as a stepping stone into philosophy for all students, to serve as a friendly social forum where they can see if maybe they want to take a philosophy class at some point, and also to promote thought about important issues which are usually only in the subconscious of peoples minds. Another goal of the club is to aside from promoting interest in philosophy is to provide a social and community service opportunity for club members. Lastly, In the spirit of Plato's belief that philosophy is not just for the wealthy and educated, being a member of the club is completely free and there is a come as you please attendance policy. Our meetings will be on Thursday nights at 7 PM, location is TBA. Come check out what philosophy is really about!
Also, to find out more about the club and about philosophy enroll on the listserv via the 3rd section of the form.
